1. This program shall be called the BBB Accredited Business Coupon Program and may be offered to BBB Accredited Businesses at BBB option.
2. Coupons must adhere to the BBB Code of Advertising. BBBs are expected to ensure their compliance with the Code. It is required that coupons be reviewed by BBB prior to their publication to mitigate risk to BBB.
3. The application allowing BBB Accredited Businesses to upload discount coupons must include language stating that the person submitting the coupon agrees that:
- He/she is authorized to submit the coupon on behalf of the business;
- The business will honor the discount;
- The coupon complies with all applicable laws; and
- The business will indemnify BBB from any third party claims arising from the coupon.
4. Technical Specifications:
a. Coupons must include the following details:- Business name
- Business contact information
- The offer
- Any conditions such as:
- Valid for all customers, new customers.
- Only one per person, size of project requirement
- Cannot be combined with any other offer or discount
- Discount not to exceed “x” dollars
- Geographical restrictions (e.g. applicable only in “x” city)
- Void where prohibited, taxed or restricted
5. Expiration date or none as appropriate
6. The BBB Accredited Business seal for coupons displayed in approved BBB design.
7. BBB disclaims responsibility for matters arising from use of this coupon for coupons displayed in approved BBB design.
8. Printed from BBB Accredited Business Discount Coupon Program on [date] for coupons displayed in approved BBB design.
b. The application built to manage this program should hide coupons that have expired.c. Users must be able to either download the coupon to their desktop or print it.
5. BBB Accredited Businesses may upload images of their coupons for display in the BBB Business Review or input the coupon information for display in approved design.
6. It is up to each BBB whether and how to charge for this program, however, BBBs should be aware that income derived from this program is likely subject to unrelated business income tax.
